What to do before and after dental implants?

Whether you need implants or mini-implants, in order to benefit from new teeth, you need to go through a period prior to the operation, followed by the one specific to the healing time. How to prepare before and what measures to take after the intervention so that everything runs smoothly? Find out in the following lines.
A DAY BEFORE THE OPERATION
- Rinse your mouth with mouthwash, with chlorhexidine, several times during the day (3-4 times, 2 minutes each).
- The night before surgery, take a 1000 mg Augmentin pill.
- Get a good rest, even if the implant is a simple operation, you need to be rested.
A FEW HOURS AHEAD
- 12 hours after the first pill you took the day before, take the second pill of Augmentin 1000 mg.
- Eat something light so that you feel as comfortable as possible at the time of the operation.
- Dress in a light outfit. It is important to feel as comfortable as possible in the dentist's chair.
- Take the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory pill, for example Nurofen forte 400 mg, which your doctor will give you when you arrive at the clinic.
IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE OPERATION
- After 4 hours, take an anti-inflammatory (Nurofen Forte) and continue this treatment for 3 days
- Apply antiseptic gels (Elugel) and healing gels (Gengigel) directly on the implant site, alternately, 4-5 times a day, without massaging the gums
- Start drinking water / juice / tea at room temperature. It is contraindicated to drink sour liquids immediately after surgery!
- You can start eating 90 minutes after surgery.
IN THE FOLLOWING DAYS
- Put decongestant drops in the next week and avoid any maneuver that changes the pressure in the upper respiratory tract (valid only for operations involving the sinuses).
- Avoid alcohol or sour drinks!
- Start drinking water / juice / tea at room temperature. It is contraindicated to drink sour liquids immediately after surgery!
- Avoid smoking! If you can't give up cigarettes altogether, try to abstain as long as possible because smoking can affect rapid tissue healing.
